Principal Specialist, Tradeshow (Remote)

The Principal Specialist, Tradeshow plays a pivotal role in the strategic planning, execution, and performance of KBR’s presence at national, regional, and international tradeshows. This high-impact role is responsible for advancing marketing and event strategies that align with business objectives and amplify brand presence. The position serves as a key liaison between internal business units, external vendors, and event organizers, ensuring flawless, end-to-end execution—from pre-event planning and on-site logistics to post-event analysis, reporting, and optimization.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and collaborative professional with exceptional communication, project management, and strategic planning skills. This individual thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses advanced computer proficiency, and is proactive, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple workstreams while meeting tight deadlines to deliver measurable results.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the full lifecycle of event management initiatives—spanning strategic planning, vendor sourcing and oversight, logistics coordination, and budget adherence—ensuring alignment with overarching brand and business objectives.
  • Serve as a cross-functional project manager, expertly balancing multiple concurrent initiatives and ensuring all deliverables are met within established timelines and financial parameters.
  • Drive the planning and execution of key tradeshows, sponsorships, memberships, and affiliated events supporting KBR’s Science & Space (S&S), Defense & Technology Solutions (DTS), and National Security Solutions (NSS) sectors. This includes oversight of venue selection, booth design and layout, meeting schedules, staffing coordination, A/V, catering, and shipping logistics.
  • Develop overall strategy for events and business units, including stakeholder and customer engagement, marketing and brand presence at trade shows in collaboration with the marketing and communications team and in line with business objectives.
  • Coordinate internal events, town halls, virtual events and stakeholder engagements ensuring alignment with company goals and reinforcing internal collaboration and culture.  Virtual event planning includes knowledge and ability to coordinate for an audience of hundreds or thousands and using digital tools to execute with multiple logistical elements including video and questions and answers from audience.
  • Support the strategic planning and execution of media days, ensuring seamless coordination of technical requirements and operational logistics.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define event goals, strategic messaging, and success metrics, driving outcomes that support business development and long-term growth.
  • Partner with the marketing team to develop marketing materials and creative assets—including brochures, signage, multimedia, and branded merchandise—that reinforce KBR’s value proposition and enhance brand engagement at events.
  • Deliver post-event reporting, data analysis, and actionable insights to inform future event strategies and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Come up with unique swag and giveaway materials in line with customer and partner audience.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong vendor relationships and negotiate service contracts to maximize value while ensuring premium service delivery.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring consistency and excellence across all touchpoints, from marketing materials to on-site presence.
  • Spearhead the development, tracking, and management of event budgets, identifying efficiencies and maximizing resource allocation in accordance with fiscal objectives.
  • Orchestrate and facilitate planning meetings with key stakeholders, both pre- and post-event, to align on strategic objectives, define executional plans, and analyze outcomes.
  • Oversee financial administration related to event execution, including processing payments, managing purchase requisitions, and reconciling expenditures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and execute multiple high-impact events concurrently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, leveraging superior organizational skills, sound judgment, and a proactive problem-solving mindset to ensure seamless delivery across all touchpoints.
  • Oversee the administrative aspects of memberships, including contract negotiation, membership fulfillment, and financial accounting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or hospitality management.
  • 7+ years of experience in the development of event and tradeshow strategy, planning, and logistics.
  • Demonstrated management of detailed fiscal budgets for tradeshows, sponsorships, and memberships.
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator. Possess strong interpersonal skills and a talent for building relationships and communicating effectively with internal teams, stakeholders, vendors, and event organizers.
  • Highly organized with advanced project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work with executive leadership and business teams in a professional and proactive, organized manner.
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure; trouble-shooting issues as they arise to keep events running smoothly.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-driven within a team structure.
  • Positive can-do attitude.
  • Expertise in using MS Office.
  • Experience in Teams, Planner, and JIRA.
  • Ability to travel including weekends or evenings as required.
