Former Military

From Military Service to Civilian Career:

Whether helping combat climate change, bolstering national security, or delivering solutions to accelerate the global energy transition, KBR is always committed to the mission.

Maybe that’s why we’re such a good fit for former service members — people who know about dedication, leadership, sacrifice and getting the job done.

Simply put, veterans keep KBR moving, which is why we proudly offer them new and exciting opportunities to continue serving their countries while also forging fulfilling civilian careers.

Training and Partnerships

A partnership with NextOp allows KBR to leverage their services in support of our veteran community. NextOp recruits, develops, and places high-performing, middle- enlisted (E-3 to E-7) post 9/11 military leaders into industry careers. Their employment coordinators work one on one with transitioning service members by matching them with employers for internship and apprenticeship opportunities through the Department of Defense's SkillBridge Program.
Hiring Our Heroes
Through our partnership with nonprofit Hiring Our Heroes, KBR helps find employment opportunities for service members transitioning from active duty. KBR hosts participants from Hiring Our Heroes’ 12-week Corporate Fellowship Program, providing valuable hands-on experience with the intent to hire for relevant vacancies.

University of Houston Supply Chain & Logistics
KBR partners with the University of Houston Supply Chain & Logistics Technology program to offer students — including veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces — a robust mentoring setting and exposure to real-life supply chain challenges.
SkillBridge is a DOD program that allows a unique opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences.

Hear From Our People

Program Assistant
KBR greatly assisted my transition from the Navy to civilian life. Through the company’s SkillBridge Program, I was able to get a jumpstart on my professional career and experience many opportunities early in my transition. I am now part of the U.S. Navy Reserves and KBR’s support has made it easy to continue my service while growing personally.
Senior Principal Specialist
KBR has supported my family and me with a phenomenal benefits package which has eased the transition back to the private sector. Additionally, I was accepted and participated in the KBR SkillBridge Program which allowed me to intern with the company while still on active duty.
Sourcing Recruiter
I want to express my deepest appreciation and gratitude for the remarkable opportunity and unwavering support KBR provided me during my transition from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service. The emphasis KBR places on investing in their employees' growth not only demonstrates their dedication to maintaining a highly skilled and motivated workforce but also creates an environment where individuals are encouraged to reach their full potential.
Associate Attorney
KBR initially hired me as a Commercial Manager. In a few short years, KBR has allowed me to build on my Defence background by fostering and transferring those skills to apply them in the infrastructure industry as a lawyer. KBR has also supported my Masters in Legal Practice, which has benefitted the role I am in now.
