Tips to Help You Ace Your Job Interview (In-Person or Virtual):
Research and Get Prepared
When you are invited to a job interview, you will receive a meeting invitation that may contain the interviewer(s) name. LinkedIn may be a good source to gather information about your interviewer and learn more about KBR as an organization here.
Practice, Practice, Practice
Practicing for your job interview is critical. There are lots of online resources that can help you find common interview questions. Take those questions and formulate your responses to demonstrate that you are the best fit for the job. Also, use the job posting to practice answering questions about why you are the best candidate to fulfill the required responsibilities listed in the job description. Use a mirror or ask a friend to role-play with you to become comfortable with your responses.
Behavioral interviews are still a common method of interviewing. To prepare for a behavioral interview, use the STAR method to describe your past performances/projects:- What was the Situation?
- What was your role in the Task?
- What Action did you take?
- What was the Result?
Dress for Success
Here are a few tips to keep in mind:- Wear neutral, professional colors
- Wear clothing that is not too loose or tight
- Check for wrinkles, pet hair, or any noticeable defects
- Avoid accessories that will be distracting or noisy
- Pick out your attire the night before
- Be ready to interview no less than 15 minutes before the interview starts. Arriving early gives you time to collect your thoughts and calm your nerves
Best of luck on your next phone screen or interview!
