Sr. Manager, EstimatingKBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. KBR is looking for a Sr. Manager, Estimating with specialized knowledge or skills to lead a team of assigned estimators, working as a generalist to develop and review preliminary or definitive estimates for projects by using processes, labor availability and productivity, and material prices based on historical data. You will also tabulate cost studies, cash flows, risk analysis and prospect analysis. Establish priorities and delegate assignments for the completion of task(s). You will use judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. May direct resources, prioritize tasks and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of estimating procedures to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Assures client satisfaction, in reviewing and overseeing estimates from two other EPC contractors.
Works, in this case, to assure convergence of two EPC estimates from two EPC contractors.
Assists the Project team in writing Governance documents for this specific application.
Delivers reports to the client as to where the two contractors estimates deviate from each other.
May serve as a point of contact between the client or the lead Estimator and the estimating team.
Assures the estimate execution is in accordance with policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by KBR and the client.
Manages and coordinates activities of other estimating personnel by direct supervision, and through subordinates.
Is able to be a “Team Player” ensuring that the requirements of the project and the client are met while working with the other EPC contractors.
Provides written and oral reports to the project team and the client as to the status of the convergence of the two estimates.
Negotiates with the EPC contractors to complete the estimates according to the estimating plan and according to the requirements and accuracy of the estimate.
Will be part of the Team that will strive for the successful completion of the estimates.
Abides by KBR business ethics.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
Skills typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
Minimum of 20+ years of experience in related projects with 15+ as an Estimator or working in an Estimating function.
They should have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and be capable of interfacing with and influencing management within both KBR and Client organizations.
Must be able to present, communicate and work with other EPC contractors as a “team member.”
Must be able to apply critical thinking and assessment of large complex estimates.
Some skills of a Project Manager as to seeing the “bigger” picture for governance is a valuable skill for this application.
This person must be able to come to the office at the KBR Tower in Houston every day as well as be able to travel to other offices in Houston and possible international travel.
